It is an honor to represent you on the Upper Providence Township Council. The residents of the First District deserve good government that is accountable, proactive, and fiscally responsible in order to preserve the strength and beauty of our township. That is why I’m asking you to vote for me this November 3rd.
Upper Providence is a beautiful community with a mix of housing and rural charm that is close to the amenities of the Borough of Media. We are a township with strong schools and strong housing values that have held during these tough financial times.
As your Councilman since January 2006, I’ve worked to provide open, respectful discussions of issues. I have worked to address issues that impact all of us, such as:
Encouraging Council to have a longer term planning focus and reaching out to neighboring municipalities. Our key issues are regional in nature. Challenging the Sewer Authority to open its decision-making process and to communicate more effectively with residents. Working closely with other Council members to address resident concerns about municipal services and to install sidewalks on Providence, State and Manchester Roads. Recently, I initiated a neighborhood effort, working with PECO to protect our community and mitigate the adverse effects of power outages and surges.
Our township’s longtime reliance on property taxes is a heavy burden for many. Providing essential services to our community requires conservative budgeting, strong oversight, and searching for efficiencies. I believe we can do better. If re-elected, I’ll continue to support a practical, cost-effective approach to government.
I will continue to provide information and seek suggestions from you on challenges facing us. The skills of our residents are substantial and I recognize the value of volunteers’ service and energy.
I also pledge to you that I will always find a way to work with you, my Council colleagues and the Township staff in the spirit of respect and cooperation.
I’ve called Upper Providence home for 16 years. My wife Mary and I are active in local organizations and are committed to Upper Providence. I have the time, energy, and interest to serve our community. I ask you for the opportunity to do so for the next four years by voting for me on November 3rd.
Looking forward to seeing you at the polls on Tuesday,
Bill Clinton
